Thanks Chris.  They must be max load when they arrive at PXH, because they really plant that beast on the runway when they land. I wonder how many landings before tire change?

cpasley

yeah good question ,plus whats the price of a tire this guy almost looks as if he may have been a carrier pilot re-living his glory days

Caught this guy landing on 26 (the North runway) at PHX this afternoon.  What a nice treat.

FedEX flight 3711 from Indianapolis landing on Runway 26 on Tuesday, October 26. FedEx McDonnell-Douglas DC-10-30 N314FE was delivered to FedEx on August 26, 1998. Its construction number is 48612.

There are more photos from that afternoon at Sky Harbor on my web site: http://air-and-space.com/20101026%20PHX.htm

I know I'm being a nit-picky bugger here, but I just wanted to point out that that aircraft is actually an MD-10. Only FedEx operates MD-10's, and it is a basically a full flight deck conversion from the 3-crew DC-10 flight deck to the modern 2-crew MD-11 flight deck.  Externally, you'd almost never be able to tell the difference, but it is possible. Notice the fin antenna on top of the fuselage at the wings. On a DC-10, that antenna would be located over the cockpit. MD-11's and MD-10's have that antenna over the wings.

Ok, nit-picking is complete! Great photos, Brian!  ;D

Thought this would be the best place for this image: two UPS 767s, two UPS 747s and FOURTEEN UPS/FedEx MD-11s.
