Privately owned AH-1 crash at Coolidge

AH-1F owned by the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation & Museum in Hampton, Georgia apparently crashed in Coolidge yesterday. The FAA report just says it had a hydraulic failure and crashed. No injuries, but substantial damage. Did anybody hear anything about this? I wonder why it was at Coolidge.

I wonder if this and/or the possible presence of NTSB people is going to restrict the fun (Eg. runway access) during the fly-in this weekend.

I wondered about that too, but I'm going to go to the Cactus Fly-In at Casa Grande instead of Coolidge anyway.

I am still planning on doing both, if not, at least I can see in what shape is N138FF, which is supposedly being overhauled.

Wow.  If you watch the video, it crashed between the ramp and the north-south runway, so it's right there.  I guess just use discretion if going out to the EOR.

I remember in first season they used a TAH-1H vs a Viper on if car could get away or not.  Laser on Cobra would try and shoot car.  Sad to.see crash, good crew ok.

But Damon wasnt that "top gear" here in the U.S. granted I didnt know Korea Top Korea existed, I believe it was their first attempt at a Car/Aircraft race, still doesnt match europe's top gear doing the same thing but they did an Apache vs. a Lotus and then a Veron vs. a Eurofighter

Remarkably little evidence of the crash out there today.  Deepest indention was maybe 6 - 8 inches deep where the skids hit and dragged for a bit, but other than that, just some scuffed-up dirt and tire tracks from all the rescue/salvage vehicles.
