Looks like the organizers of the Wings Over Houston show at Ellington Field have removed the Vietnam War tribute from the program this year and have replaced it with the Heavy Metal jet demo team.

The Vietnam tribute has, in the past, included participation of numerous Vietnam-era warbirds, including the Collings Foundation's F-4 and A-4.  They also recently added an F-100F to their stable of airworthy jets, and with this one in Vietnam-era camo and serving as a flying tribute to the "Misty" Forward Air Controllers, the F-100 would undoubtedly be taking part in this or any future Vietnam tribute airshows.  As someone who has wanted to make the trip out there for this airshow exclusively for the Vietnam tribute, I'm a little disappointed by this decision.

There's a petition to get the Vietnam War tribute added to the airshow program again.  I am not sure how effective it will be even if it gains enough signatures, but at the very least it will signal to the organizers that this popular feature of the airshow is not one they should remove from future WOH shows.  If you would like to see the Vietnam tribute retained, the petition can be signed at:  http://www.change.org/petitions/commemorative-air-force-wings-over-houston-airshow-city-of-houston-honor-vietnam-war-veterans
"I'm sorry sir, you can't take photos of that aircraft."

"If you've seen my work, you'd know I really can't take photos of any aircraft."
