O'Boy this is going to be fun.  :P
"You don't become a professional simply by earning certificates, adding ratings, or getting a paycheck for flying. Rather, professionalism is a mindset. It comes from having the attitude, the ethics, and the discipline to do the right thing — every time, all the time, regardless of who's watching."

Chris, you can delete all of (or portions of) the text and embedded images from a post you are quoting.  Shoot me a PM if you have questions on how to do it.

Amazing set of shots, Ramp Rat!

Ben, these engine shots are awesome.  How close were you and how noisy was it?  I think I'd be worried about my camera and tripod and possibly me becoming FOD in those big fans.

Dave S.

Ben,

I'm going to take a leap and guess that the engines on the 757 were just free-wheeling in a breeze and that there wasn't actually a fire lit when you took those shots?

Long exposure + slight breeze + tripod = illusion of serious/fatal FOD potential?

Didn't think about the fans being windblown.  It is a nice effect and the photos are surperb.

Thank you for the compliments, everyone!

Dave, you are correct, there was just enough of a breeze to slowly turn the fan. These exposures were all 8 seconds each. This particular 757 had arrived about an hour earlier prior to when I was out there shooting.

i was sitting on the ground with my camera on the gorilla pod and used my remote release to trigger the shutter. For the higher vantage point, I set my camera up on a bag tug that I parked in front of the engine. Ah, the benefits of being an airline employee! Good fun!

Matt's post on the 737 thread, with his shot of the 'new' United livery, reminded me that I caught their new 757 in Denver, while on my way to Washington DC, last Thursday.  The colors are horrible, this shot was taken through the tinted terminal window.
