Wow.  Evergreen actually sold their Marana operation, per this article: http://www.newsregister.com/article?articleTitle=evergreen+sells+marana+air+base--1306950408--865--.

Wonder if this means a more permissive environment down there in the future.  Not that I'm a big stored-aircraft guy, but it would still be cool to get down there.
"I'm sorry sir, you can't take photos of that aircraft."

"If you've seen my work, you'd know I really can't take photos of any aircraft."

Sounds like things are not going too great for them right now. I wonder how their air museum in Oregon will fare.

If the equity firm that bought it intends to continue the same kind of operations, I doubt if access would change.

Very unfortunate series of events for Evergreen, and likely the aviation world as a whole.

Back in 1991 or '92 I got a tour of the Evergreen Warbird collection down at Pinal AirPark, by "Schnozz", the Warbird collection curator.  That day, the son of the owner of Evergreen was there, exercising the airplanes.  He would take them each up for about a 15-20 minute flight.  This included a P-51, P-40, and a couple others.  He didn't take the Corsair up, but tied the Tailwheel down, so he could do an extended engine run.   We got to go through the B-17, and saw the restoration work on a P-38, which was getting a complete teardown for overhaul.  There was also a Skycrane in the hangar.

Hopefully the Evergreen facility in Oregon fairs better, and keeps operating.

Evergreen has just opened a water park adjacent to their museum. It has a 747 on the top and some of the water slides start inside it.

Correction - It opens this Monday (6/6).
