Hey guys - As some of you are aware, Gateway recently updated their photography policy.  I have communicated with the head of Gateway Aviation Services and he assured me that the changes have NO impact on photography from outside the fence.

However, photography from inside the fence is not longer permitted without permission from Gateway admin.  What follows is an email from Matt, Manager of Gateway Aviation Services, re-posted here with his permission:

Just to clarify, this is not a new policy but a reminder regarding the Airports policy for photography inside the fence at Gateway. The Airport does not permit any photography inside the fence line with out permission from the Executive Director's Office. This includes invitations by aircraft owners or Airport staff.

Photography outside the fence is still permitted.

Joe, we are not looking to be any less photo friendly than before but we have had issues with some photogs (professional & amateur) having access to aircraft that they should not have had, so we are reeducating our staff on what is and isn't appropriate and part of that is just stopping the practice all together. This policy extends to Airport staff except when in the line of performing our job or to document moments in time... so don't give a hard time if you see me shooting pictures from time to time! :)

I know this is probably not what you wanted hear but I still support you and the other guys efforts for good shooting locations we just can't get you up close anymore.

Matt

So it's more or less business as usual for most of us, we just can't ask aircrew or ramp agents to take us out for static shots on the ramp anymore.  Kind of a bummer, but it is what it is, and they're still one of the most photographer-friendly airports around.
"I'm sorry sir, you can't take photos of that aircraft."

"If you've seen my work, you'd know I really can't take photos of any aircraft."

At least they're communicating. Would be nice to have others do the same.
