Stopping Congressman Turner's Amendment

When considering what argument to make to our elected representatives opposing Congressman Turner's amendment I decided that the impact on Arizona's economy is likely the best point of attack in the current tough economic times. FWIW, the following is what I wrote.

Congressman Michael Turner of Ohio has proposed an amendment to H.R. 4310 that will cause economic harm to Arizona and many of its citizens. This amendment to Title 10 would bar the Department of Defense (DoD) from loaning or gifting any United States military aircraft or aircraft parts to any entity except those that would put the aircraft on static display, such as in a museum. This would make it impossible for individuals and organizations such as the Commemorative Air Force, to own and maintain vintage military aircraft, commonly called Warbirds, in flyable condition.

Arizona hosts several major fly-ins each year, including the Cactus Fly-In and the Copperstate Fly-In, which attract Warbirds and their enthusiasts from all over the country. These events are also attended by many of Arizona's full time and part time residents and generate substantial income for the state. Due to its excellent year around flying weather Arizona is also home to many individuals who own, maintain and fly vintage Warbirds. All of the money spent on maintaining and flying these historic aircraft also flows directly into Arizona's economy.

For the sake of Arizona's economy and its citizens please make every possible effort to stop Congressman Turner's amendment.
