SR-71 Blackbird

Just whanted to show this Blackbird (Yes, verry sad the Air Force does not fly her any more) thats outside of Eglin AFB, FL at the Air Force Armment Museum.

Unfortunately they were competing with satellite systems that had better persistence and faster revisit.  The maintenance cost and training curve for the blackbird was approaching vertical as well.  All overwhelming contributors to a retirement decision.
