The guy in the background was not deliberately trying to kill the shot, but just looking at the two shots, that's precisely what's happening in the "before" image.  A little clone-stamp action goes a long way in changing the tone of a photograph.  
"I'm sorry sir, you can't take photos of that aircraft."

"If you've seen my work, you'd know I really can't take photos of any aircraft."
