So I got an email this morning asking how much I'd charge for letting a guy use one of my photos to make about 150 postcards.

I've never sold photos for this kind of use, so I'm looking for help from those who are more experienced. What would be an acceptable average price for this?

What's he gonna do with these "postcards?"
Selling them at retail?
Promoting himself in some way using your image?
How big will they be?
How long will he use your image?
What did you have to do to get your image? (Drive 500 miles + Hotel + Meals or just shoot it from your back yard?)
Potential for additional business with this person or "one and done?"

Lots of variables at work...

Oh, and the correct term is "License" your image.  Not "Sell" it.
If he wants to outright buy the copyright from you, then that's a whole different issue and involves more zeros.
When you license an image, you retain the copyright.  And if he wants any exclusivity (ie, you can't use it while he's using it, that costs extra!)

He says they want to use them to find a PC-12 for sale. As such, the only condition that I'm thinking with regards to the image would be to partially clone out the registration number or photoshop it (and the operator logo, which is slightly visible).

As to my "production cost", nothing too awful, since I only drove to DVT.

Potential for business would be a one and done, I'm thinking.

And yes, this would be a license to make those 150 postcards.
