Well it seems our close-to-the-event source told us wrong; the T-38s moved out of DM to Holloman are going to be Aggressor aircraft at Langley/Tyndall:

They've only completed two actual flights hauling T-38s, right?  That should mean at least five more and possible six trips, right?

Holloman is where all the "naked" T-38s go to be repainted.

"You don't become a professional simply by earning certificates, adding ratings, or getting a paycheck for flying. Rather, professionalism is a mindset. It comes from having the attitude, the ethics, and the discipline to do the right thing — every time, all the time, regardless of who's watching."
