Took the trip to Florida to catch the final space shuttle launch.  Everything went great.....except the weather.  I honestly almost put the camera away and just watched it but I decided to give it a whirl anyway.  7 miles of hazy, rainy, hot, humid air.

Here she is on the launch pad the night before with the spotlight hitting the low rain clouds above.

You work with what you've got, eh? Wish I could have been there. I saw a shuttle launch in 1995-96. We were in Disney checking out of the hotel and saw the shuttle was launching, I "launched" my van across Florida with all haste and got to a small bridge over some river just as she went up. Amazing even from a ga-zillion miles away.

Chris,

Congrats on making it to the last launch!  Pretty much an indescribable event, watching a shuttle launch into space.  I know the sight, sounds, and feeling of the launch are forever etched into my memory banks.  I still can't get over just how bright the exhaust plumes from the SRBs were.

Was searching to see if anyone has shot the shuttle and found this old thread... so I'm bringing it back to life! Haha!

I went to the last launch, as well. Definitely the coolest thing I've ever seen take to the skies. No words can describe it.... Here are a couple pics of mine!
