I know a few intrepid and highly skilled shooters were working on star trail images at PASM Saturday night. As the village idiot, I was too afraid to venture into this mystic area of photography. I've since done some research. Some friendly souls have shared some information with me and I thought I'd share with you. Most of you probably already know this stuff, but for the few that may be wondering - here you go.

The "Star Circles Academy" (http://starcircleacademy.com/startrails/) is a website with lots of free information on achieving star circles. He also is selling stuff, but the free stuff appears to be good.

Also, there is a link to some freeware that can be used to help improve star trail images in post processing.

I hope this information is helpful and I look forward to my next opportunity at PASM  ;)

I use Star Trails for stacking shots....

Works pretty well.  Way less resource intense then trying to stack shots in Photoshop.

+1 on Anna's suggestion.  That's what I used to stack my shots from Saturday night's shoot, and it worked great.
"I'm sorry sir, you can't take photos of that aircraft."

"If you've seen my work, you'd know I really can't take photos of any aircraft."
