The GoPro model is just over a grand. Those others yes are way expensive.

Do not do this type of photo/video in the USA at this point..it's illegal for commercial purposes and if you're doing it for fun, need to have proper permits and permissions in place. And absolutely no flying in populated areas. The laws are being written as I type this. I'm an avid RC pilot and full time pro video/photo guy so I've been following this for a long time in hopes that I can add this service back into my company's bag of tricks.

Also a note...that is a terrible design for the application and ridiculously priced. The gopro is WAY too heavy and "draggy" for that size plane...tried it! :)
ReplayXD makes a much better camera for this as it's a small cylinder. Video is as nice if not better than the GoPro. I have one ready to go on a small heli. Total price of the rig...$800. To add an autopilot feature would be another $300 or so. Airplanes would be even cheaper.

I'll be getting serious about this when the laws are settled so I'll post up when that happens! :)
