Chandler Aviation History Project Wants Your Photos

Here is an email I received from the Chandler Airport Alliance.   The city museum is looking for historical photos for a special project.   I expect this is the project which Joe C. is working with.  Anyway here is the letter.  If you have older photos of Chandler Airport, consider helping them out.

Can you forward this email on to your network of the airport community?

The Chandler Museum is currently working on a project to document the history of Chandler Municipal Airport. The project will conclude in April with a website about the airport's history and a video that profiles some of the individuals and history related to the airport.

Unfortunately, there are few photos in the museum's collection that show the airport during its early years. We are seeking photos of the airport from the 1960s to the 1990s. We are especially interested in pictures of buildings or businesses that no longer exist at the airport. We are also interested in photos that individuals might have of themselves and their planes at the airport, thus showing who are the users of the airport. We would love to see any photos of the air shows put on at the airport in the past- especially in the 1980s. The first airport terminal. The first control tower.

These images will potentially be used on the website and in the video, as needed. Your name will be attributed to the photo, and we encourage you to either donate a physical copy of the photo or the digital scan to the museum so that we can increase the images of the airport in the collection, and to help preserve that history.

That is the project.  I have the release forms if anyone has photos they want to loan to Jean for scanning. 

We are looking for shots that are more of the buildings and businesses themselves, as opposed to just shots of aircraft.  If you have any questions, let me know, or contact Jean directly.
