Just wondering if anyone has had the chance of using this camera yet and just wanted to know your opinion on it.

My nephew got a 60D a few weeks ago and I've played with it a couple of times. IQ is good and the AF works well. I'm not a fan of the articulated LCD - too many things to go wrong or get broken. When comparing it to the 7D, it does not seem as solidly built (i.e. composites vs. alloy body).

I wish I had some experience with the 50D to see how it compares as a replacement.

Just my 2-cents.

I got my 60D in October 2010 and I love it! I've shot with both the 40D and 50D previously and decided on the 60D mainly because it had the articulated screen plus the movie mode. My son used it to shoot 1080P video for his U of A film class and it was incredible. Great color, high definition LCD screen and the ability to frame shots without having to lay on the ground made it a joy to use. The high ISO ability, 6400 (or 12800 in ISO Expansion mode), can be handy is some situations.

True, it does not have the magnesium body but has been fine for me so far. It has many of the features of the 7D without the higher cost. If the 7D came with that screen I would have chosen it. In practice I normally just leave the screen flush with the LCD side showing so it acts like a 50D or 7D in that respect. It is a wider screen however than either of those two so the shots are a little bigger when viewing.

All in all, I love it and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for serious amateur shooting.

It would appear that with the 60D, Canon has altered their normal naming convention.

Just one opinion here but I think you'd be very hard pressed to call the 60D a "replacement" for the 50D.

If I yakked this up on the board earlier, I apologize but my take on Canon's current path is this:

Rebel -> 60D -> Fork In The Road

Path One: 7D -> 1DMkIV (If your thing is PJ, Sports, Speed, etc...)
Path Two: 5DMkII -> 1DsMkIII / Eventually 1DsMkIV (If your thing is Landscape, Studio, Product, etc...)

I think the 60D is meant to bridge the gap between high-end P&S cameras and dSLRs.  Higher-end users have at least tried Manual Mode and are maybe comfortable with Av, Tv, Exposure Compensation and have dabbled in trying to get shallower DOF.  Lower-end P&S users are meant to move to the Rebel first and then up the food chain.

Now, can the 60D perform in our world?  Absolutely.  From what I've seen, it makes great images and if you are interested in dSLR Video at all, that screen is great!

I spoke with several people at a car show who have the camera, and they love it.  They indicate the image quality is great, and they really don't have issue with the frames per second being 1 fps less than the 50D.  When I asked them about the feel and construction concerns, they thought it had a good solid feel.   One of them let me use it for a few shots, and I thought it had a good fit compared to my Rebel series.  One mentioned the issue of not being able to do the special focusing adjustment with specific lenses, but didn't have a problem with how the camera was focusing with his lenses, so wasn't too upset.

So have you taken delivery of one, and if so, how do you like it?  What's your opinion of it?
I'd buy it in a heartbeat if i was in a position to get a new camera.
