Airports / Bases / Is Kingman photographer-friendly?
January 30, 2012, 06:40:10 PM
I'm thinking of taking a friend and a 172 up to Kingman.  Does Kingman freak out about people walking the line and photographing the planes?

If you ever get a chance to go to the Sywell Aerodrome airshow in Northamptonshire, do NOT miss the opportunity.  They really know how to put on a show.

Didn't have time to shoot it in the air, but here's Jerry Jones' GV on the ramp at Glendale today.

This one is a new-build.  I seriously dislike the spinner he's got on it.  Yuck.

I suppose since my family's had Luscombes since the 1960s, I'm a little biased.  My avatar is our current one, a 1947 8A metalwing.  Ragwings are also beautiful airplanes.

Haha and there's never been a Tammy.  Except for the hot little Vietnamese girl whose pics I'm working on now... :)

Thanks, Chris, no there's not a lot going on but when things do go on, there's cool stuff.  There's a Royal Canadian T-6 Texan II sitting on the ramp right now, leaving tomorrow morning, and tomorrow's going to be a zoo with the Dallas Cowboys game.  So all you GA jet spotters may want to sit at the end of the runway and get the jets coming and going.

And yes, the Left Seat is coming in.  They've been moving in furniture this week, and Karen says she hopes to be up and running by the first of the year.  Fingers crossed; they're good people, good food, good service, and we're looking forward to it.

Aloha all!  New here, not new to photography.  Been shooting professionally since 2002, starting out with Fuji S-2s and then Nikons and finally switched to Canon; not that it matter since the black box that goes click is only a means to the end -- megapixels and make don't matter.

My own business is weddings and portraits, mostly, and commercial photography, and aerial portraiture when the occasion arises.  And pretty girls.  Can't forget pretty girls :)

I don't get a lot of time for spotting, but my day job is at the Glendale Airport so I get to watch planes come in and out all day.  What could possibly be better than that?  I usually know when something cool is coming in, so when I get word that something cool is on its way I can post here.
