So where is everyone shooting afternoon arrivals from at KSDL since the construction has completely ruined our old location?

Fairchild SA-226T Merlin IIIB N400JJ seen at KSDL on Jun. 7th, 2015. I haven't posted too much recently, but I finally got around to working this one over.....quick and dirty edit, though! Probably the best bird at SDL for shooting during the golden hour.

Hmmm....if the weather cooperates on the 21st....I will try to spend the daylight hours down there for this one. I do like the 120 / 140 series.....so seeing a whole line up of them will be nice!

Just a bit more than two whole weeks until Slidetoberfest! For those who are a bit skeptical about attending.....remember that this is a show for ALL AVIATION PHOTOGRAPHERS! DON'T LET THE NAME FOOL YOU into thinking that just because you shoot digital, there is no place for you at this show. It is NOT geared only towards those who did, and / or still do, use film for their aviation photography. If you want to come and show off your prints, this is the place to do it. A number of attendees have already expressed interest to me regarding photography on this website. I have received a number of e-mails asking me questions like "are any of those AZAP guys going to be selling prints at this show?"
We all have the same basic hobby and whether we use film, digital, or even video formats, we all have the same goal of preserving aviation history through the lenses of our cameras. If that is your hobby....then this is the show for you!
Aviation photographers will be attending from all over the world. We have old-school pros coming (for example, Joe Cupido already has his room booked for the show) and semi-pro amatuers from all across the country. One photographer is bringing 100,000+ slides dating all the way back to 1965 from his tour in Vietnam. So if you have anything related to aviation and photography you would like to sell, trade, or just show off.....just bring it! This event is totally free!
Also....we are still awaiting positive confirmation, but a friend of mine who works for Canon in their marketing department put in a request to have one of their reps possibly attend the show with their newest equipment on show.

If you missed it before, here is the location and date info:

Not sure if anyone here has already been, but I plan on going up this coming weekend. If anyone else would like to go.....let me know and maybe we can coordinate a car-pool. The whole event is scheduled from September 25th through October 2nd, so it has already started and many aircraft have already arrived. Here is a link with a bit of info about it:

http://sedonaairport.org/flyin

A number of LancAirs, both piston and turboprop models, have already shown up. Word is, heard from a friend who is attending, the Mexican Navy was planning on sending one or two of theirs up for the fly-in. Not sure if they made it yet or not.....haven't heard from him since then.

The rest aren't listed.

Thanks a lot for this info Chris.....it really helps. I myself am working on a book on the Beech King Air and Queen Air series of business aircraft, and I am also helping a friend with a book on the Merlin / Metroliner; that's why I am always on the lookout for such information to pair with the slides in my collection.

Not sure if you saw the post from a while back or not.....but if you are free on October 20th, you might just enjoy the Slidetoberfest show down here in Chandler. We are holding it at the Chandler La Quinta at I-10 and Chandler. Lots of people from around the world will be bringing slides and older negatives to show, trade, and sell. You seem to have an appreciation for aviation history that would be more than welcome at this show. One individual will be bringing black and white negatives of aircraft from the 1930s and 1940s.......a little more historically accurate than hitting the black and white button in PhotoShop! Also have a couple of folks bringing slides from the Vietnam war to sell and exhibit during the show at the end of the night. You might find it enjoyable if you can find the time to make it this year. We have been holding the show for the past 15 or so years and are always looking for new people to widen the show's focus. Anyways, here is a link to the show's thread here on AZAP:

We would love to have you there! If the weather the following day is favorable.....I was considering going down for the Cessna 120 / 140 event at Ryan Field you alerted us to.....awesome little aircraft those things are!

Hello Chris,

Nice valuable find you have there! I wish I could get my hands on a few of those. Sadly, I have to settle for the bizjet and bizprop books along with some of the jetliner and vintage prop production lists to keep all of my databases up to date.

In terms of 1971.....I do have one slide that I need some info on. It is a Swearingen SA-26AT Merlin II registered N4273X. It was taken at Oakland International Airport (KOAK) in December of 1971. That is all of the info I have on it. If you have and can give me the construction number along with the owner at the time....that would help me out quite a bit!

Thanks!
