I've been a big fan of Flickr for a long time. Like anything, it isn't perfect. But I much prefer it to any of the social media options. I've become acquainted with countless excellent photographers on Flickr that I never would have seen on social media.

Well done young man. A significant literary achievement completing such a bold and prodigious project. I'll be placing an order and proudly adding to my humble library. Of course, I'd like to get my copy signed when time and the proprieties permit.

Terrific work Brian. That 180 is definitely a "looker".

Boeing E-4B s/n 73-1677 arriving at DM on 8/18/20.

Nice work Ned. You must have been sweating up a storm to get this terrific photo. I've never seen an E-4B in the flesh, so I appreciate your sharing this image. I remember the time (2012) we were surprised by the TACAMO bouncing at Yuma. Great memories. Be well kind sir.

When it comes to commercial aviation, especially the passenger airline industry, it is hard to imagine a more iconic airframe than the 747. I'll certainly miss standing on my front porch in the early evening and watching as one of BA's 747s turns to final for PHX. I've been spoiled.

Rockwell Turbo Commander

Terrific photograph Tom. I was not always a Turbo Commander fan, but in the past few years my feelings have changed. A wonderful airplane with beautiful lines. Your image accentuates this 690's unique design. Well done sir.

STOP SAVING LIVES

Wonderful composition sir. Your depth-of-field management is spot on.

The complete opposite of my 4x5 large format photographs. This image was taken with my iPhone, I used the Apple "Airdrop" feature to transfer the image as a "TIFF" file directly to my iMac, and then "washed" the TIFF file through Lightroom before posting. Not that I would ever consider my iPhone the equal to any of my film or digital cameras, it does a nice job when your cameras are not handy. I was scouting locations for my large format photography and found this old warrior working on his tan at the Coolidge Airport. It is next to the Pinal County Sheriff's hanger, so I suspect it is a project for their aviation group.  Normally I dislike lens flare and avoid it at all costs. But in this circumstance, I felt it added a stylish "flair" to the final image. Commissioned into the US Army in 1970, this Blackhorse was once a member of the 6th Cavalry Brigade (Air Combat).

Some shots of Saturday's aerial firefighting efforts to keep the Bighorn Fire at bay. I happened to be in the right place at the right time when one of the 10 Tanker VLATs showed up.

Amazing work Chris. Well done sir.

Jeff: I am loving these historical photos taken by your father. Keep 'em coming.

Thank you Ned. I intend to keep posting them until I run out of negatives.

I think it is fair to say that the Idaho ANG at Gowan Field in Boise had an interesting ramp in 1956. Especially, when your roster of "alert birds" includes a B-47 Stratojet. Photograph by Dale Welker.

Another 6x6 Anscochrome slide from dad's 1956 files. His squadron was TDY at Gowan Field training with the Idaho ANG. I believe dad took this photo with his beloved Rolleiflex.

South African A-330 ZS-SXX stopped at KTUS to clear customs then flew on to Pinal Airpark. 5/18/220.

Nice catch Ned. Do all the foreign liveries have to stop in KTUS on their journey to Pinal? Or, did these folks do that because of their route from SA?
I believe it's because they came directly from SA. If they had stopped somewhere else in the US and cleared customs there then I believe they should be able to just fly straight to Pinal.

Sounds good to me. Thanks Jonathan.
