Hello, thought I would stop by and post that I am still alive and still part of our group.

The last couple months have been rather hard, with a combination of personal and family affairs to attend to, I haven't really had the time to post, comment or vote on the anything on the forum within that time.

To make matters worse I recently had both my hard drives fail within days of each other, losing all my software and backlogged images in the process.  Because of this my motivation to go out and photograph had been completely obliterated.

I now have a new computer and most of my other affairs have now been roughly ironed out so you will soon see more activity from me once again.
Thank you to everyone who provided me support and comfort during this time, it will be a pleasure shooting with all of you again

Here is a photo I took last year when I was in San Diego. The image was very back-lit, so I figured I'd play around with it learn some new editing techniques.

Any suggestions on how I can make this image better?

First time going there, any must sees to recommend?

Also going to be my first time in a 737.

I went to an aircraft scrap yard today and found a tail section off of an f-4 phantom, unknown what variant, with the National Guard emblem on it.
I got a quote on the cost to remove and trim the emblem and it would cost me $250 (Both for the metal and trimming)

Is this a decent price?

Don't know if this is the right place to put it.

I am having HUGE auto focus problems with my Canon Rebel XS.

While taking aviation photos, the camera will not focus on subject, instead it will constantly search for a focal point. Even when the plane is literally on top of me, it will just sit there and search.

Ground subjects, on the other hand, the camera will focus at the drop of a hat.

At first I thought this was a problem with my kit lens, but it is doing the same thing to a lens I just bought.




Is my body bad? Is it something with the settings? Or does god not want me taking photo's of aircraft with my canon.

Being a patch collector, I thought it would be nice to make a thread about flight patches.

I'll start with a couple of my Customs and Border Protection patches.
