After creating a workaround band-aid with my accidentally deleted Lightroom catalog, I've finally been able to start going through the photos from mine & John's visit to NAS Fallon.
Here is some of the cooler stuff we saw while out next to the runway.
... and a few more from near the runway.
Who knew a runway also acted as a two lane road? We were in the van heading north, and this F-5 was on the same 'road' and heading south.
Dave, really cool stuff, now I'm upset I couldn't make it! :'(
If you'd like, you can live vicariously through the pictures John & I took. ;)

Sounds good to me!! I'm looking forward to another opportunity.
It looks like you guys hit the jackpot on Saturday, up at Valle. I still need to get up there, but silly distractions like Fallon keep getting in the way. Guess I can live with it.
Last year, 2009, was the 40th anniversary for Top Gun. Up at Fallon, the 'new' home for Top Gun, they have an F-16 painted up for the 40th anniversary. This includes an old school patch design emblazoned on the (now peeling) vertical tail.
... and lastly for this evening.
1. Stairway to Heaven?
2. How bad of a back seat driver would this rear seat guy be. Notice his rank on the canopy rail.
3. One thing photographers and pilots have in common, they both appreciate clean glass. If only the photographers had someone to clean their glass for them.
Nice shots of the 40th Anniversary F-16! We caught that one down in Yuma last Fall, it was there participating in WTI.
Cool Dave....very cool!!
Fantastic stuff Dave!! Looks like a successful trip!
Thanks gents!
You might say it was a success!
Forgot to mention that we also saw a U-2 come by and do an almost-touch-and-go. About 5 minutes after they pulled us in from the runway, and after we were back on the CAG ramp (where we weren't allowed to take any photos), a U-2 came by and did the closest non-touch-and-go that I've ever seen a U-2 make. Okay, it was also the only time I've ever seen a U-2 do a non-touch-and-go, or even fly for that matter! That was one of the highlights of the trip.

Here are a few more of the 'Top Gun' planes used at Fallon.
From the SAR helo squadron at NAS Fallon. Take a close look in the second picture and notice the variety of rescues this other helo has performed. The last picture is of their squadron car.
I wasn't aware that NSAWC had some E-2's assigned to them as well.

Great shots guys, both the kinetic and static shots!
Damon, that EOR shot with the runway sign in the foreground is outstanding. I really dig the composition, as most of us would have simply moved in front of it or to the side of it to get it out of the shot.
