Just playing with some new software. I need to revisit the technique and see if I can figure out where the graininess came from so I can do it with a little less texture.

Jay - If you processed in Silver Efex Pro 2 first and then used a Hue/Saturation Level to bring back the color, it can sometimes introduce additional grain/noise. You can really achieve some great PP by performing most of the processing as a B&W conversion first - then use whatever methods you prefer to bring color back into the image. I think it may be the best way to have ultimate control over contrast and structure.
Just my 2-cents.

In all honesty when I first got the camera I was disappointed in it. Every picture had a ton of noise, even pics taken with the best lighting had substantial noise. I did some snooping on the internet and found out that certain settings in the custom function menus seemed to reduce the noise for whatever reason. Since it was on the internet it had to be true. I made some adjustments and it seemed to work. I still have to make some tweaks in LR but I have been really satisfied with the camera overall. This was my first outing since my lens was cleaned and tuned up at Canon. I have to say that my pics are far crisper and sharper now then when I bought the lens. I started to think that maybe Canon sent me back a 100-400L 2.8 lens. ::) ;D
