Great images Jay. My only complaint or criticism is that it appears the back seat in the L-39 is empty. I believe that is a serious violation of aviation proprieties  ;D

Unfortunately, they prohibit "non essential personnel" during demos but yeah, I hear ya...

 ;D

Tyson's did turn out nice; despite his Nikon handicap  ;D  (Just kidding) BTW, was Tyson standing in a hole next to you? His image seems to be from a lower perspective  In appropriate comment induced by a new medication I'm taking - sorry.

I'll bet there is a story behind this photo that you should share someday. I can't believe this was a dumb luck capture and had to involve some quick thinking and maneuvering; or did you guys conspire with the Iron Eagle boys  ;)

The location of the moon had been a constant source of amusement all week as it conveniently rose at the start of airshow each afternoon.

Anytime anything came close, about a dozen voices would just go "MOON!" and we'd try to catch something crossing it.

This one was just pure dumb luck that the Iron Eagles went up on either side of the disc.  They did matching hammerhead turns and the plane on the right came back down right through the moon.  Salvaging one of those frames will take even more massaging than this one did to get something presentable.

Jay are you freaking kidding me with this shot of Chambliss. That is amazing how close your able to zoom in and still how clear it is.

Dittos on nailing that shot.  Speaking of shots, it almost looks like a bullet hole straight out in front of the canopy.

I'm guessing that it's either one of those bullet hole stickers or else there's a missing GoPro mount with slightly spider-webbed paint.

You know Jay im sure you dont need anyone to add padding to your ego but I am just flabbergasted by these series of photos, you set the bar to where most of us strive to be at and im glad to say I have shot with you and had the chance to learn from you

When the atmospherics at Oshkosh cooperate, it's a wonderful place to shoot in the afternoon and evening.  The sun is squarely at your back and the air is usually clear and cool enough that heat haze is minimized (concrete runway helps as well.)

This year was a little bit more challenging.  A lot of afternoon "mothership-sized" clouds and very, very hot by Wisconsin standards.  Monday was 106F @ 70%+ RH = Heat Index of nearly 120F.  Just Brutal!

It's so totally worth going though.  This was my fourth and all I can say is I'm really sorry I didn't start going earlier.  It would take an act of God to keep me from going back for as long as I'm able!

An FJ-4!  Wow!  Now that gets the heart beating.  And a great shot too!  (One of many from Oshkosh Jay)

Thanks Scott.  Pretty happy with the painterly effect this got.  SOOC was pretty weak.

Same Fury that ran off the end last year (only flying Fury AFAIK)

Seemed way underpowered on takeoff.  Guess we're jaded by Super Bugs!  ;D

Seems most of the jets from that era were limited by lack of thrust.  I saw a Flight Systems F-86 taking off to the east from Kirtland AFB once and he darned near used up the whole runway and even then was barely climbing.  Always liked the looks of the FJ-4 best of all the Sabre/Fury types.  Not sure if there is any North American family connection but its main gear is somewhat similar to the OV-10's (trailing arm).  Both built at the North American Columbus plant I think.
