Mike the light on the first image is so rad. Mucho Bueno as my friends from south of the border would say.
I would agree with Ross' assessment, the sunset head on with the gear up is beautiful, both shots are a great catch. Congrats Mike.
Thanks guys!! It should be noted: I very rarely stand or shoot on the runway extended centerline and I hope others do not either. Airplanes drop parts, leak blue water, fuel, and spew hydraulic fluid - especially around airports when parts are moving around and under stress on takeoff. And then there's the bird strike hazard - which often tears parts off or destroys engines. I've shed/lost parts (B-727, T-38), lost entire hydraulic systems due to blown 3,000psi lines just after takeoff (B-767ER, ATR, T-38), and have had engines shelled out or on fire (B-727, T-38) - very hot, sharp, and heavy falling parts - and would rather not be the one to get covered in 40 gallons of hydraulic fluid or catch those parts, even on a bounce. That said... If I happen to be in my offset position (which I was here - Yuma Fairgrounds parking lot) and someone decides to fly right over me, I'm gonna shoot them. And hope for the best as far as experiencing a (rare) falling fluid or falling bit event goes. Be safe out there!
