Thanks Joe. I can't tell you how surprised I was to see the MiG-27 at March AFB. They have an amazing collection of MiGs. The MiG-23 was also quite a surprise as well. I had to ask permission to take the photos. They were very nice about letting me shoot away. I'll catch some of the other exotics the next time I visit.
These images are of the Red Bull MiG taken at the Luke Air Force Base Thunder in the Desert air show.

Very nice Ned, a sight I never thought I'd see. Perhaps soon with my own eyes even?!?!?!?

Terrible Light that day... Oh Well :'(
No such thing as good light at Miramar. These came out remarkably well, all things considered.
The grandstands were on the wrong side of the runway. The glare was aweful and it seemed the Red Bull MiG kept flying directly into the sun on every pass. I felt fortunate that I was able to get as many salvageable shots as I did during the Saturday show.

It's not a crop Joe, it's a Pano done really fast! 8)
(Thanks)
Loved your "ChiCom" lineup in the CState Thread!
Jay, you must have had the big glass out for that last shot. I like to put shots like this in my favorites folder. Go Mud Hens! What's a Mud Hen?

Did you watch M*A*S*H? Klinger was from Toledo and always talked about the Mud Hens.
That's how I know that!

where is it located?
On Nellis Air Force Base. I believe that it was next to the Red Flag Tactics Training facility.
REALLY lovin' the photography on this site!
One of my humble contributions from Luke '09.
I've added some longer glass since then, which should help.

Seeing Anna's post from CWAM here in Texas got me thinking about their fixed wing assets, and the former-Bulgarian AF MiGs in particular. While the Flogger has since vanished, they still have the Fishbed. Seeing the Flogger do it's thing was a real treat too!

I'd pay a good price to take processing tips from a pro, what do say Jay! Your work always seems unattainable to me, I don't need company secrets, just some good fundamentals. Beautiful work, always!
I can help people with the mechanics of LR or PS but the types of images you create with those mechanics have to come from the head and the heart...
The style of the top image above comes from trial and error with different filters in PS over the last few months. The bottom layer came from roughly three hours of LR, PS and Perfect Effects 8.
Sometimes you can be inspired to create and sometimes you have to force yourself to burn some midnight oil and let inspiration find you.
Best looking Mig17 I have ever seen. Nice work Vance.
Thanks for the kind words Harvey. He surprised everyone when he came blasting down the runway at something below 50 feet, and to our surprise, he did it again a few minutes later. What a thrill to see that. (Slightly below the Airshow Hard Deck ;D
