This would have been a much better shot if there wasn't the thin layer of clouds between me and the plane (a Virgin America A-320).

I say; boom shakalaka! Monster cool image Sir David. I also say; au contraire to the notion that is would be a better image without the thin clouds. The thin clouds make it for me kind sir. It creates a kind of muted aurora glow. Without the thin clouds, I feel the image would be more of a sterile documentary capture, rather than the magical image you've created. BTW, did I mention I like it?  ;)  ;D

Thanks Jeff.  That persuasive argument class you've been taking, via correspondence course, is working out very well for you!

I would agree with Jeff on that one. Even more cool with the thin clouds.

The Legend of the Guardian of the Line
The Greek God "Linus" comes from the Greek name Λινος (Linos) meaning "leg."
In Greek legend, he was the son of the God Apollo who was accidentally killed when he stepped over the white line.

Me four....  Pretty cool shot.  The clouds give it a magical quality.   :)

Wow, thanks for all of the positive feedback, I almost didn't post it.  In fact, I almsot pitched the shot into the trash.

Make it a pentavirate.

This image has a feel to it, whereas one without the clouds would likely only have a look.

Did you happen to be outside when that F-16 was roaring south in afterburner?

Thanks

Regarding the F-16: Nope.  This was taken last evening at 40th St (I assume you were implying that I was at home when I took this?)

While waiting for the 787 to depart, I caught my second sharklet style winglet equipped A-321 this morning.  This was on very short final at Sky Harbor.

(On a minor side note, I think American's new livery plays a bit of a visual game with my head.  At first, I thought this was an A-320, not an A-321.  With this new color scheme, the A-321's don't appear to be as long as the same model when it's in the US Airways livery.  Maybe it's the horizontal line (created at the intersection of white and blue) on the current (last?) US Airways livery that makes the fuselage look a bit longer?)

Then again, maybe it's just this particular perspective that lends itself to this optical illusion.  For example, this A-321 looks pretty darn long in the fuselage (granted it was taken at 24mm).

Caught this compliment to Vance's: Frontier's updated LCC livery and the new sharklet winglets...

And a little while later, this was my view of the same plane's departure...

I like the high angle shot on this good looking aircraft, we don't see to many hangar shots, very nice Bjorn.
