It was a lot of fun! Are you going to join us in the morning?
Very nice shots guys.
Think The President or any of his family are looking out one of the windows at you?

Your shots are simply spectacular. Air Force One is such a beautiful aircraft and your images capture its beauty perfectly. Thanks for sharing.
Matt, nice shot!
Gents,
Okay - here are my contributions from yesterday and this morning. Tried for something a little different. I ended up with quite a few light poles in my departure shots from this morning. He rotated quite early, which is easy to do when one starts the take-off roll at the beginning of the runway and not 2000 feet into the useable concrete.
It would have been nice if all the gear doors were closed in that last shot, but oh well. I'm still pleased with it.

Had four opportunities to catch AF1 this weekend, and I'm glad I chose the one I did.
Very nice shots everybody. Very nice.
I hadn't even noticed when taking pics. that the gear was all the way up as he went by. That makes the shots that much better.
Now where did all those clouds go we've been having the last week?
At least the sun was in good position for his takeoff, and not too much haze/smog.
Gotta say I agree with Bill. Looks like that F1 place turned out to be a real nice place to catch evening arrivals on the north runway, at least until the sun migrates to the south again for the fall/winter months.
And Dave - awesome how you caught the Honeywell 757 in the background on that shot. Dig the departure shot w/Camelback Mountain as well.
Beautiful shot, Matt. Just the right amount of gear down.
:)
Fantastic stuff guys!
Couple of the takeoff Monday morning 8/17, been without internet for a couple weeks. Taken from terminal 4 garage.

Gents,
Nice coverage on the arrival of Air Force One. Looks like the standard arrival is to use 30 into D-M.

Since Jay and I were standing cheek to jowl while AF1 flew by on final, our images are going to be similar. Accordingly, I offer you something slightly different.

Yes boys and girls, that is the SE corner of Pecos and Ellsworth (City of Mesa well site). 30-minutes earlier I had been told by a friend (who is also on Mesa PD) that nobody would be allowed to park or photograph from that location - one of my favorites for 30R. As you can see, about 10-minutes before AF1 began its final, the unwashed overwhelmed the authorities and they receded. I especially enjoy how SRP crews coincidentally had a service call in the let-down for AF1 ;D
Heck, we ended up in a good place and got a few nice shots, I'm just jealous ;)

Thanks a lot! Access was so much easier then. I like the reflections of the engine nacelles and the shadow of the rear fuselage in the highly polished underside.

So Air Force One will be back in Phoenix this Friday. Don't know arrival or departure times, but I'm hoping those "in the know" will be able to post some windows.
Dan,
Your best bet is to watch the news, keep tabs on the 'Heads Up' thread and keep up to date on any TFR's that get published. I believe the White House publishes a daily schedule of presidential activities, and this should give a reasonably accurate indication on his scheduled landing time. Doesn't necessarily mean that's the time AF1 will land, just that's what's been planned for.

Agreed with Vance. This seems to be one of the better sets of AF1 arrivals and departures we've gotten at PHX.
