I hope I am not incurring the wrath of the mods by pulling a Lazarus with this thread, but I was curious if anyone had any tips for checking out the stored aircraft here at Goodyear? I gather that they are stored on the west-side. Any times of day that are better? Any definite "don'ts"? Don't wanna step on anybody's toes or run afoul of any pre-existing law enforcement arrangements.

On the road up from Tucson yesterday, I noted a pair of China Southern 777s making their retirement flights from Honolulu. While I missed the first one due to lack of a scanner, here is number 2 from an improvised photography location.

Hey Guys,

Catching up with some stuff I took late last year. It was the day after the final AirTran revenue flight, and I was kicking around the house in Cave Creek looking for something to do. For fun I checked the flightaware page for Goodyear and noted the AirTran 717 fleet was due into Goodyear for storage pending Deltafication. I mean every last 717 they still operated, something like 14 frames in one day. Having been a stalwart Citrus customer, and having enjoyed many a morning listening to XM satellite radio whilst jetting to ATL, there was no question where I was gonna be. It was a bit sad knowing this was the last time I would see my favorite domestic carrier to fly on, one that had taken me to many awesome events, including more than one spotting outing. I recognize the material here is a bit repetitive, but as it is the last time we will be seeing these sharp little 717s, I think we can let it slide...

Thank you very much Jeff. I wasn't sure where a good spot was to shot from. I was driving S. on Bullard Ave and all of a sudden I saw him bearing down on me from the right side. I stopped the car in the left turn lane that had a green light. I jumped out of the car and started shooting. There was one car that came up and was very kind, didn't even blow the horn because of the green light. I guess they were watching this big bird land also.

The Experimental Aircraft Association brought their Ford 5-AT Tri-Motor to the Goodyear Airport to make revenue flights from March 23 to March 26. While I visited the airport on March 26, a replica Waco YMF departed and a Boeing C-17A landed o pick up a group of Air Force parachutists.
