Great set of images from Coolidge Tom....
Thanks Anna.  This was my first visit to the monthly fly-in.  Lot's of fun.  It's almost like El Centro, but without all the afterburners!

The Legend of the Guardian of the Line
The Greek God "Linus" comes from the Greek name Λινος (Linos) meaning "leg."
In Greek legend he was the son of the God Apollo who was accidentally killed when he stepped over the white line.

Nice subtle treatment Matt...

Seconded, that is a solid 'vintage' take on the 47.

Unexpectedly, I ended up at Coolidge this morning with the opportunity to run some Kodak Tmax 100 through the old Hasselblad.  It was good to see Chris Kennedy there and I thought it was a nice turnout of aircraft.  Of course, it will be a few weeks before I get my film developed and scanned, but I did bring along my new Sony a6400 (my grandkid camera) and took a quick photo of a terrific looking L-29 that was residing in one of the hangars.  While I couldn't wait around to see it happen, they said as soon as the larger crowd dispersed, they'd be making some test flights with that bad boy.

The real surprise for me was finding a gentleman (ex Army Vietnam pilot) that is on a quest to document the history of the Coolidge Army Airfield.  He has a hangar at Coolidge and we talked for about 30-minutes.  I took some photos of the display he had next to his airplane.  I've attached those photos below.  Terrific stuff.

I took my two grandsons to the Coolidge Airport early this morning and was pleasantly surprised to find that German Special Operations Soldiers (KSK) were training in the pre-dawn light.  A rain shower had just moved through the area and the "clean" air was a crisp and refreshing respite from the norm.  The two Skyvans were working overtime and made some nifty approaches to pick-up the next load of operators.

There will no longer be fly-ins in May. October through April from now on.

Blame it on global warming. The Lions Club said it's too hot on the ramp in May.
