Very nice shot of this F-5 Vance, where was this shot at?

NAS North Island on Coronado Island in San Diego.  This was a previously reprocessed image from the CONA event back in 2011.

Terrific image Chris. Of course, you clearly suffered irreparable brain damage in that heat. I'll bet this F-5 pilot couldn't wait to get back to the sublime temperate climate of Yuma  ;)

What was always amazing was popping the canopy on the T-38 (same A/C system on the F-5) after a nice summer day flight and
feeling that wonderful and cool 110+ degree air enter the cockpit!! Ahhhh!!! It would often exceed 140 degrees in the cockpit while
working the pattern at Luke, Willie, Yuma, DM...!!

Thanks Jeff! Yes I have dain bramage now  :P

Mike, these two pilots had to wait a bit for ground crew so I bet it went to at least 140!

SOMETHING BORROWED, SOMETHING BLUE

Another shot taken in support of my article on VMFT-401 in the February 2015 issue of AirForces Monthly.  VFC-13 F-5 on loan to VMFT-401 during WTI 1-15.

It's almost like you were right there. Beautiful capture Joe. That is so much better than shooting through a tankers rear window.

Excellent work Joe. This really shows off the wonderful lines of the F-5. The paint schemes on these aggressors are my favorites and you've captured a wonderfully dynamic composition.

You don't concentrate on risks. You concentrate on results. No risk is too great to prevent the necessary job from getting done.

STABBY McKNIFEYPLANE

Bit of a memory lane shot for me.  I shot this on mine and Matt's first trip to Yuma to shoot WTI action back in 2009.  I was a big F-5 fan before then, but actually getting to shoot photos of them, it was a love-at-first-click moment, and they've been my favorite jet to shoot ever since.

The Legend of the Guardian of the Line
The Greek God "Linus" comes from the Greek name Λινος (Linos) meaning "leg."
In Greek legend, he was the son of the God Apollo who was accidentally killed when he stepped over the white line.
