A gentlemanly Cessna 172S waits patiently on the taxiway as a large Russian girl saunters by on its way to the cargo ramp.  As luck would have it, the sun went behind the clouds as she came by my position and dropped my exposure my 2 stops.  No matter, my grandkids had a hoot seeing this big girl up close.

The first two images from a new generational project I’m working on with the Little’s. I’ve named the series “iPad Apparitions”. Rykr Chief was the primary target last night. Much more to explore...

Chris - Your KB-50J image is terrific.  This is one of my favorite airframes at PASM and you did a wonderful job capturing the "glow" of this aluminum monster - especially with difficult noon-time lighting conditions.  Perfected in monochrome.

I took my two grandsons to the Coolidge Airport early this morning and was pleasantly surprised to find that German Special Operations Soldiers (KSK) were training in the pre-dawn light.  A rain shower had just moved through the area and the "clean" air was a crisp and refreshing respite from the norm.  The two Skyvans were working overtime and made some nifty approaches to pick-up the next load of operators.

Congratulations David.  A wonderful image that captures a very unique event.

While out at the Coolidge breakfast fly-in, I made the acquaintance of a gentleman (ex Army Vietnam pilot) that is on a quest to document the history of the Coolidge Army Airfield.  He has a hangar at Coolidge and we talked for about 30-minutes.  I took some photos of the display he had next to his airplane.  I've attached those photos below and also posted on the Coolidge thread.  Terrific stuff.

Unexpectedly, I ended up at Coolidge this morning with the opportunity to run some Kodak Tmax 100 through the old Hasselblad.  It was good to see Chris Kennedy there and I thought it was a nice turnout of aircraft.  Of course, it will be a few weeks before I get my film developed and scanned, but I did bring along my new Sony a6400 (my grandkid camera) and took a quick photo of a terrific looking L-29 that was residing in one of the hangars.  While I couldn't wait around to see it happen, they said as soon as the larger crowd dispersed, they'd be making some test flights with that bad boy.

Just about all I could manage to squeeze out of the Super Blue Blood Moon...

Heck of a nice "squeeze" young man.  Wonderful balance of the very early morning warmth and slowly vanishing evening cool.  Not an easy balancing act  Grin

During my outing this am for the Blood Moon, captured this 'late' in the morning, just as the sun was rising.  Sort of a different view of Sky Harbor than I'm used to.

Terrific work David.  While I'm sure you've considered it, I'm hoping that some evening you'll do a long exposure from this location that will ultimately show a ton of light trails from departing/arriving aircraft.  I'm thinking it could be epic.  One minor quibble with this image, your watermark is too large and distracting for my taste.  Just my personal opinion, so feel free to ignore an old man's carping  Wink

My apologies if I've posted this somewhere on AzAP before.  I could not find it anywhere on the site, so I'm posting today.  Dad's squadron getting all fancy on a rainy morning at the ANG base at Sky Harbor.  In the 1960's the Copperheads were ready to intercept.  To help orient you to this location at PHX, the centerline of RWY 7R/25L would run right through the main hangar in this photo.  My dad's humble office and photolab was on the second floor of that hangar.  The 2000 aerial below shows the construction of 7R/25L and that old hangar before it was demolished.

Jeff,

Hoping you will post some more historical photos from your father's collection soon...

Here here and dilly dilly, Anna is not the only one enjoying these historical photos.

Thank you Dave.  Here are a couple of photos of my Uncle Sam from WWII.  The first was taken during some training he had in Florida.  The second was taken with his beloved P-40.  The same airframe he was KIA during a dog fight in China.

This how you rescue your stranded old school dirt bike (i.e. "Blazer") when it breaks down far from any roads. You call your good friend who happens to be the CO of the AZANG at Papago.  Colonel Hall spools up one of his assets on the flight line, picks up dad at the house, (yes, he literally landed in the field behind our house) and helocasts him into the Sierra Ancha's to retrieve the stranded Blazer. Not a bad way to spend your Saturday.  Photo circa 1965...
